BWC Return and Storage
- Complete the end-of-duty handover procedure and formal report to the BWC Administrator (s.8.4).
- Demonstrate correct storage of BWCs in the docking station when not on duty (s.8.6).
Operational Overview
JCF BWC SOPs (Section 8.0) govern the entire lifecycle of the camera — from distribution to disposal. Every step must be documented in either the Station Diary/SRMS or the JCF BWC Register (Form JCF/FW/PL/Ops/0009/2021/F01).
End-of-Duty Handover (Section 8.4)
Upon completion of duty, the BWC and accessories shall be handed to the BWC Administrator, who cross-references the Station Diary/SRMS and updates the BWC Register — the handing-over member must sign the register (8.4.1).
The member must make a formal report to the BWC Administrator on:
- incidents that may result in complaints, court action, or further investigation;
- incidents that warranted BWC use but where the device was not used;
- any malfunction, failure, or damage (8.4.2).
BWC Administrator End-of-Duty Checks (Section 8.4.3)
On receiving the BWC, the Administrator shall:
- inspect the device for visible damage;
- place the BWC on the dock for charging and footage upload;
- where a malfunction or damage is found, make an entry in the Station Diary/SRMS and BWC Register and submit a report to the ACP Technology Branch.
Storage (Section 8.6)
When not assigned to personnel, BWCs shall be stored in the docking stations (Section 8.6.2).
Section 8.3 NB: If a member fails to activate the BWC or interrupts the recording, the member shall submit a WRITTEN REPORT outlining the reason(s) and may face disciplinary action for any breach detected.
Only trained and authorised members shall be issued with and use BWCs, related equipment and accessories (Section 8.2.6). Unauthorised members using a BWC are in breach of this policy and may face disciplinary action.
