    Course Overview

    Operational compliance, evidentiary integrity, and professional conduct in the use of BWC systems

    Governing Policy This course is developed in accordance with the Jamaica Constabulary Force Management of Body-Worn Cameras Policy and Standard Operating Procedures, contained in Force Orders Serial No. 4070, dated 5 June 2025. It is published for general information and strict compliance, and reflects the operational standards established by the Force.

    Purpose of the Programme

    This self-paced course equips members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force with the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and professional standards required for the effective use of Body-Worn Cameras in policing operations. It is designed to ensure operational compliance, professionalism, accountability, evidentiary integrity, and proper management of BWC systems across the Force.

    Throughout the programme, emphasis is placed on accountability, transparency, officer safety, evidentiary integrity, professionalism, ethical conduct, and compliance with Jamaica’s legal and policy framework.

    How the Course Is Delivered

    The programme combines theoretical instruction, scenario-based learning, policy interpretation, practical application, and knowledge assessments. Participants will learn how to properly operate BWCs, manage digital evidence, interact professionally with the public while recording, and adhere to the operational and legal standards governing the use of the technology.

          Step by step

          		 Start at the beginning. The timeline opens on the earliest entry — 1990–2017: Traditional Policing. Read it before moving on.

          		 Move forward using the next arrow (or by clicking the next date on the navigation strip). Step through each entry in order: 1990–2016, 2016–2017, 2021, 2025, then 2026.

          Interactive 3D Equipment Familiarisation

          This interactive activity allows you to explore the Axon Body 2 and Axon Body 3 body-worn cameras using a fully interactive 3D model. Rotate, zoom, and examine the device from different angles to become familiar with its external components and controls.

          As you navigate the model, identify the various buttons, indicators, ports, microphones, speaker, camera lens, and mounting components. Understanding the location and function of each part is essential for the safe and effective operation of the Body-Worn Camera during duty.

          Take your time to inspect every component before proceeding to the next lesson. A good understanding of the camera's physical features will help you confidently perform operational procedures covered later in this course.
