History and Philosophy of the JCF

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) has been in existence for over one hundred and fifty (150) years. During this time, the organization has constantly been repositioning itself and its goals to meet the evolving demands of the people in Jamaica. This course will provide recruits with the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to identify the structure and apply the ideology of the JCF to integrate self within the organization and the society. Recruits will be exposed to the foundation of laws in Jamaica, evolution of the history and structure of the JCF and its fundamental philosophy.

Target Population: The intended recruits for this course are civilians who have been successful in the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s (JCF) vetting and selection processes and have been engaged as recruits. These individuals have met the criteria for entry in the JCF which include written examination, physical assessment, medical reviews, antecedent investigation and polygraph examination.

Firearms Investigation Training Workshop

The course will cover both theory and practical. It is intended to provide crucial skill sets to allow the participants to get a wider understanding of the new Firearms Act, 2022.  This course will incorporate different units, assessments and teaching strategies that will cater to the different learning styles. This this will be done to hone the investigative skills of practitioners in the different work environment. Participants will cover a range of topics namely: Understanding and Interpreting the New Firearms Act, 2022, Exhibit & Evidence Handling, Report and Statement Writing, Investigative Technique (Suspect/Accused, Interviewing, PEACE Model), Investigating Note Taking, Ethics and the Judges Rules, Search and Seizure techniques. Human Rights and Use of Force, Crime Scene Management.
